Then the bummer came along, wrapped with the dreariness of the cold winter days! Someone else’s pet adoption application got accepted, and we missed out on bringing home Tango. C’est La Vie!

As the pandemic reared its Hydra-esque head and impacted the world around us, it did not come across as a total surprise to see humans longing for companionship and belonging with their pets. Adopting a pet and taking care of it is a welcome change as well as therapeutic.

On the Pet Industry’s business-end and among technologists, there is a renewed focus on Pet Life Cycle management services as a connected value chain. Pet Food, Accessories, Health Needs, Clothing, Managed Care etc is coming out of their silos too. Using Data analytics, Predictive modeling, accelerators and tools they can create a ecosystem where Help, Advice and nudges are available for aspiring and existing Pet owners.

Everything that makes a Pet’s life happy has to be augmented, made predictable, and the Dog’s parents are proactively guided into each step. We will also see more partnerships coming up between retailers, Pet food manufacturers, Insurance providers, and the Vet fraternity.
The era of the non-linear value chain for the Pet industry is on the horizon, where we will see greater efficiency among businesses, delivering the most value at the lowest possible cost – and convenience for the pet parents and the furry pets.
