Google Trends 2020 informative and analytical discussion!!!!
Putting a spin on what Charles Dickens once wrote– ‘It was not the best of times, it was the worst of times’ would aptly describe the Year 2020 for all of us! It has been that kind of a year! Phew!
Google Trends‘ Year in Search 2020 brought out their yearly list of keywords that piqued the interest of humanity (the online ones at least!) during the year!
Being a keen Data Viz and Tableau enthusiast I got intrigued enough to create a quick Viz and share it with the #DataFam in Tableau Public.
I picked up the Recipes and Food search keywords – as soon as I saw the word ‘Dalgona coffee.’ It will always remind us of the year 2020 and all it had to offer us. Whoever thought mixing Coffee Powder + Sugar + Hot Water will stir up a heady concoction that will keep the quarantined people amused and caffeinated!
For the quizzically inclined, the origin of the word is derived from dalgona, a Korean sugar sweet, due to the resemblance in taste and appearance, though most dalgona coffee doesn’t actually contain dalgona. Source: Wiki
Here is the link to the hi-res Visualization in Tableau Public. (Link).
My Visualization uses Google Trends 2020 keywords and their relative Indexes (scale of 0-100). A value of 100 is the peak popularity for the term and 0 means the opposite.
Data scope was limited to how people worldwide searched for recipes and food google trends 2020 products – as they strived to DIY their daily bread and meal. Covid-19 pandemic definitely played a dominant role in what people searched for!
Culinary experiments and preparing food for the family have been a bright spot on an otherwise forgettable year for me!
Happy Holidays and Stay Safe using Google Trends 2020!! 🙂
